An evening catch-up for DMN members proudly supported by Think Brick Australia. This regional meet-up is your chance to sharpen your masonry detailing, get ahead of NCC 2025 changes and strengthen the way you specify bricks in residential projects.
Across the session you will:
- Understand the key principles of masonry design and detailing, including the role of flashings, DPCs, lintels, wall ties and mortar in achieving durable, compliant construction.
- Evaluate the sustainability performance of masonry – embodied carbon, EPDs, circularity and recent manufacturing innovations.
- Apply lifecycle thinking when selecting masonry materials, and interpret environmental data to support informed design decisions.
- Learn how to utilise the thermal mass properties of masonry to improve energy efficiency in line with NCC/NatHERS requirements.
- Gain a designer-focused overview of NCC 2025 changes relating to brickwork and what they mean for your documentation
Presented by Cathy Inglis AM, Group CEO of Think Brick, Concrete Masonry Association of Australia and the Australian Roofing Tile Association, and an experienced materials engineer with nearly 30 years in the building industry.
Held in CoLab, a DMN National Award-winning building designed by Donna Monaghan (Form & Function), this meet-up combines practical CPD, local networking and an inspiring venue tailored to building designers in South West Victoria.

An experienced Materials Engineer and technical expert with nearly 30 years in the building industry and building product manufacturing with a focus on research, product development and product compliance.
Currently the Group CEO of Think Brick Australia, the Concrete Masonry Association of Australia and the Australian Roofing Tile Association who represent the manufacturers across this industry sector. Cathy has worked in key leadership roles in management and business development with responsibility for the research of new products, technical matters and leading innovation to improve the energy efficiency of operations and to create sustainable building products. Cathy is on the National Board of the Housing Industry Association and was awarded a Member of the Order of Australia for services to the building and construction industry in 2020.
