Richard Choy - NATSPEC//Construction Information 

Richard Choy is CEO of NATSPEC, a national not-for-profit with the objective to improve the construction quality and productivity of the built environment through leadership of information.  Richard has extensive design and construction experience working within engineering, architecture and industry associations.  He is currently a member of the Australian Building Codes Board, on the Executive of the Australasian BIM Advisory Board and is the President of the International Construction Information Society.  NATSPEC publishes the National Building Specification, AUS-SPEC for Local Government, the NATSPEC BIM Guide and associated documents, and the National Construction Product Register NCPR.

 

OVERVIEW:

Climate change has increased importance of design, documentation, and construction supervision.  This presentation discusses the key fire protection considerations that need to be considered when designing buildings.  

Participants will receive:

  • A revision of the changes that were included in NCC 2019; 
  • Advice of regulatory changes underway; 
  • Key design philosophies for designing for fire protection and fire resistance; 
  • Knowledge of the key errors as found by Fire and Rescue, Building Regulators, and Building Surveyors.
