Assessor Upskill Whole of Home Masterclass
23 July 2026 - 1.00 PM - 4:00 PM AEST
Members: $375
Non-Members: $495
Following on from the success of the Upskill Now Masterclass (UNM), join this whole of home Masterclass to learn critical NCC 2022 compliant modelling techniques for appliances. This Masterclass is a follow on from the popular Upskill Now Masterclass and takes Assessors through whole of home, energy budget, thermal bridging and lighting plan data extraction, optimisation and modelling procedures. (Note this course does not cover thermal assessment. This is covered separately in the Assessor Upskill Now Masterclass).
Who should attend
It is recommended that Assessors have previously attended an Upskill Now Masterclass before attending the Upskill Whole of Home Masterclass as you will already have carried out an assessment of the building fabric, so you can simply build on that for the Whole of Home Assessment.
Event overview
Join us to unravel the complexity of NCC 2022 Whole of Home provisions in this newly developed Masterclass, designed to empower participants with essential skills in
interpreting architectural drawings, providing optimisation advice to clients and conducting precise and cost efficient 2022 compliant assessments.
Learn best practices in NatHERS software modelling, ensuring
compliance with new modelling elements introduced with NCC 2022 via current technical notes, user manuals, and building codes. In
this three-hour live session, hosted by industry leaders, participants will
sharpen their abilities to identify, extract, and model elements of the new standard inclusions.
You will also have the opportunity to put your learning form this Masterclass into practice by modelling the demonstration dwelling and submitting for benchmarking review, feedback and an extra CPD point.
Don't miss this opportunity to elevate your expertise in a dynamic, interactive
environment.
- So you have maximum value from your Upskill Now Masterclass experience, it is necessary to have an active camera and microphone, especially during the software specific breakout rooms.
What previous UNM attendees have said:
"The Design Matters TPA Upskill Masterclass is an excellent opportunity for both aspiring and practicing thermal assessor alike. A great program involving the best assessors in the industry that bridges theory and practice". Callan, Assessor since 2011
“The masterclass was great, and I got quite a lot of good new information out of the class, some items especially related to shortcuts in developing a rating were very beneficial”. Sue, Assessor since 2010
“The Upskill Masterclass is a great way to be reminded of small items that are easy to forget yet are necessary for an accurate result. I was also surprised in how many little items that were not taught (or I hadn’t comprehended) in the Cert IV course but were mentioned in the Upskill Masterclass. I will be doing an Upskill Masterclass for the first couple of years after accreditation as it’s a good way of keeping up skills or increasing skills, until competency is achieved consistently in all jobs I carry out”. Linda, Assessor since 2022
“As someone who has been an energy rater for 5 years and working alone, the Upskill Masterclass was a fabulous program to both reinforce my previous learnings and teach me several new skills. Lead by industry experts, the learning was invaluable. I took on this Masterclass with my CPD requirements already fulfilled for the year and it was definitely worth it. I highly recommend all assessors, new and experienced, to not only participate in the course, but also take the opportunity of having their skills peer reviewed”. Deb, Assessor since 2017
The course consists of two key elements:
- Part One - two and a half to three hour live interactive demonstration identifying, interpreting, extracting and modelling building elements to generate accurate, reliable and repeatable energy assessment reports.
- Software specific breakout rooms - demonstration of the benchmarking drawing set will be demonstrated in separate software specific breakout rooms where our subject matter experts will lead the demonstration, discuss modelling techniques and shortcuts and answer all your questions.
- Part 2 – assessment of the Upskill Now whole of home demonstration drawing set and submit for review within seven (7) days. An 85% pass mark is required. 3 Technical CPD points are awarded upon passing this benchmarking exercise.
Upon completion of this course, you will be able to:
• Confidently and quickly generate accurate NatHERS reports and certificates that include whole of home, energy budget, thermal bridging and lighting plan
• Assess your own work to ensure accuracy and reliability
• Be prepared and pass future QA Reviews confidently
• Understand the application of the NatHERS 2022 Whole of Home Technical Note, relevant building code energy efficiency provisions and where to find product specification data
• Build your own reference library
3 x NatHERS Technical CPD points for participation in Part 1 and of this course, plus 1 NatHERS Technical for completing the Part 2 benchmarking component.
