An evening catch-up for DMN members in Ballarat, with a presentation by Krause Bricks, at Federation TAFE’s SMB Campus – the historic home of Federation University. This regional meet-up is a chance to connect with fellow building designers and energy assessors, hear directly from local suppliers, and strengthen your understanding of current masonry and external materials options.
Across the session you will:·
- Gain insight from Krause Bricks into traditionally made, high-character brick products – including colour, texture and performance considerations – and how they can be used to differentiate and elevate your designs.
- Learn more about Federation TAFE’s role in training the next generation of building and construction professionals in regional Victoria, and how industry and education can collaborate to support skills and practice.
- Network with other BDs, EEAs and students in the Ballarat region, share local experiences, and build connections with suppliers who understand regional conditions and council expectations.
The SMB Campus is in the heart of Ballarat, close to public transport, shops and cafes, and sits alongside the Building and Construction Training Centre and Manufacturing and Engineering Skills Centre – an ideal setting for a practical, industry-focused DMN meet-up. Light refreshments will be provided. This event is a formal CPD opportunity and is open to building designers, energy assessors and students looking to deepen their product knowledge, connect with local industry and engage with the regional training ecosystem.
About Federation TAFE
Federation TAFE is Victoria’s only dual-sector regional and rural TAFE and university – and that makes us a little different. We bring together hands-on training, real industry partnerships and deep regional knowledge to help build the skilled workforce our communities need to thrive. We offer a broad range of pre-employment, trade, post-trade and entry- to mid-level qualifications. Every course is designed in collaboration with employers, which means our training stays aligned with industry needs and supports strong employment outcomes for students.
The SMB campus is where Federation University started way back in 1870 – known then as School of Mines Ballarat. The site is right in the heart of Ballarat, which means easy access to shops, cafes and public transport. The train station is about a 20-minute walk, and there's a footy oval and walking trail next door. The campus also includes Federation College, the Building and Construction Training Centre, the Manufacturing and Engineering Skills Centre and the Flecknoe Building – a digital innovation hub for entrepreneurs and startups.
The traditional custodians for this area are the Wadawurrung peoples.
