DMN Members’ Regional Happy Hour, Dinner & Guided Tour of Cape Paterson Ecovillage

30/05/2024 - 31/05/2024

OVERVIEW:

Victorian members, one and all! You’re invited to a DMN Members’ Regional Happy Hour, Dinner & Guided Tour of Cape Paterson Ecovillage two-hours’ drive east of Melbourne’s CBD in Inverloch. We’ll start with happy hour drinks from 6-7pm, then gather for dinner at 7pm on Thursday. After a restorative sleep, we’ll regroup at 10.30am on Friday for an informative three-hour tour of Australia’s most sustainable housing estate – the Cape Paterson Ecovillage, followed by a casual post-tour debrief over lunch at 1.30pm. After lunch, feel free to head home, back to the office, or stay for the weekend.

About the Cape
Purchasers of land at The Cape may build a home from one of 10 unique designs, each featuring 7.5-star energy efficient homes with highly efficient lights and appliances, or they can choose to customise their own based on our design guidelines. All designs need to meet the project design guidelines and meet the minimum standards of 7.5 star energy efficiency, with 2.5 kW solar system and 10,000 litres of rainwater storage per home.

Who we’ll meet
The Cape is the brainchild of Brendan Condon, a respected authority in the field of environmental restoration. Brendan will tell us the back-story to getting the Cape through planning and other war stories! Some of the best builders and designers in Australia are on hand to build at The Cape, including DMN Members Jess Cuman, Luke Middleton and Ashley Beaumont who have all designed homes at the Cape and will be invited to talk us through their designs.

What we’ll do
Come down Thursday afternoon, check in and relax until 6pm happy hour, then dinner (a la carte) from 7pm. On Friday 31 May, from 10.30am, members will take a guided tour of homes in varying stages of construction at the Cape, meet DMN members who have designed Cape homes, and possibly have the chance to meet the founder and Cape resident, Brendan Condon. After the tour, members will gather for lunch at 1.30pm, then depart for Melbourne or stay the weekend!
