The Healthy Home - What makes a building material ‘healthy’?

23/04/2024 | 12:00 PM - 1:00 PM (AEST)

OVERVIEW:

Building materials play a pivotal role in the health and wellbeing of the people that live and work in a building, as well as the environment. Labels like ‘recycled’ don’t necessarily equate to ‘healthy’. Materials chosen for their thermal properties may not be the healthiest choices for individuals and our planet.

In this insightful session, you will learn:

  • Healthy building material criteria: the key considerations when evaluating the health and environmental impacts of building materials.
  • Material choices and mould risk: discover attributes that can contribute to condensation and mould, potentially compromising health and structural integrity.
  • Material spotlight: How three prevalent building materials fare when rated through the lens of Building Biology
